Find Customer the Old Fashioned Way
Now, with the Web being so new, what does it mean to find customers
the old fashioned way? If you've been around the Internet for
a while you'll soon realize how easy it is to get lost and distracted.
This can happen as a web surfer, but it also can happen as
a business person on the Web. Things change quickly including
strategies and all of a sudden, you may realize (or may not)
that you've ventured far from where you've started.
Without realizing it, you've wandered away from some of the
basics of marketing on the Web and now you're paying a price
for it. A course correction is needed in order to get back on
track.
Now, you may be familiar with search engine optimization. You
may even have a full-blown SEO program and PPC program going
at the same time. That's great if you do and if you don't you
need to start.
Now, some people who have gone full bore into the SEO and PPC
realm have done so and neglected other marketing opportunities.
Let's face it, there's only so much time in a day.
But, by abandoning the basics you've cut your business short
of its full potential. There are other strategies for bringing
in customers outside of SEO and PPC. Does your site offer a
newsletter? Do you advertise in other industry newsletters?
These are two basics that often overlooked or abandoned after
a while.
Do you have a blog on your site. Do you visit other blogs and
leave comments. Trading traffic between blogs is another way
to get customers moving in the right direction. How about a
message board? Do you have one on your site and do you visit
those on other industry sites?
Having a message board establishes your company as industry
experts. Visiting other message boards and leaving your websites
link in the signature area will drive traffic to your own site
and you can promote yourself as an expert there as well.
Other basics in Web marketing that you may have abandoned,
but really should revisit include paid advertising on other
websites, giving away something of value for free, holding an
event on your website, putting out press releases and writing
articles and submitting them to the article banks.
These are all tried and true marketing methods on the Internet.
If you've abandoned them, its time to course correct and revisit
them. If you haven't started, then get started. There's no other
better time to get started in finding customers the old fashioned
way than now.
